The ghosts of the past
are affecting
today.
What does one do
to repair a lifetime's worth
of scars?
Don't say
"just smile"
or "chin up".
Don't tell me
"rejoice in
my testimony".
These phrases are worthless
in comparison to what they are
intended to fix.
God, give me amnesia,
for I wish the past
would go away.
