RESEARCH


The advantage of the game goes to the player who is willing to do research.  It is extra work, but it can profit a candidate with more knowledge in the campaign.  When you click the Research button on the Campaign Screen, you will be presented with the Select Research Area Screen shown above.  You may either do State Research or the Candidate Comparison.  Both are described below:

The Research States Screen appear when you click the State Research button.  This screen is very similar to the Travel Screen, with one difference.  You cannot travel using the Research States Screen.  You can select any state from the state list and it will appear in yellow on the Research Map.  The information on the screen is exactly the same as the Travel Screen.  You just won't risk accidentally traveling to a state using this screen.  When you are finished with researching the states, click the OK button.

The Candidate Comparison Screen can be a helpful assistant is retrieving information on both your candidate and you competition.  The attributes listed for each candidate shown on this screen are explained below:

DESCRIPTION

Name Profession and name of the candidate.
Political Party Political party the candidate represents.
Location State that the candidate is located in.
Electoral Votes Total amount of Electoral Votes that the candidate has according to the current poll results.
Popular Votes Total amount of Popular Votes that the candidate has according to the current poll results.
Supporting States Total states currently supporting the candidate.
Unpopularity Current Unpopularity percentage of candidate.
Unemployment Total issue points the candidate has for the Unemployment Issue.
Taxes Total issue points the candidate has for the Taxes Issue.
National Debt Total issue points the candidate has for the National Debt Issue.
Drug War Total issue points the candidate has for the Drug War Issue.
Education Total issue points the candidate has for the Education Issue.
Total Campaigns Total amount of campaigns that the candidate has made throughout the nation.

This screen is particularly useful when times come up that you just have to know the status of the other candidate, such as National Debate Opportunities (discussed later in this user manual.)

To dismiss the Candidate Comparison Screen, click the OK button.
